What can you automate with n8n?

Almost any process that depends on moving data from one system to another. n8n ships with connectors for many apps, and where there isn't one, it connects through APIs or webhooks. For example:

How do AI agents work inside n8n?

n8n includes AI nodes that let a language model read an email, classify a request or decide which tool to call within a workflow. That way one workflow can combine deterministic steps (look up, record, notify) with steps that require understanding text.

We build them with the same guardrails as any AI agent: least-privilege access to each system, usage limits and human approval before payments, customer-facing messages or important data changes.

n8n Cloud or self-hosted n8n?

Both are valid; the right choice depends on your data and your team:

• n8n Cloud: a faster start with no servers to manage.
• Self-hosted in your cloud (AWS or another provider): data stays in your infrastructure and you control networking, access and backups.
• Either way, we review the n8n license terms that apply to how you plan to use it.

How do you keep workflows secure and reliable?

A workflow that fails silently is worse than no workflow at all. Every implementation includes:

• Credentials stored in n8n's credential manager, never hardcoded in workflows, with role-based access.
• Error handling, retries and alerts when something breaks.
• Execution monitoring and logs so you can see what ran and when.
• Workflow versions kept in a repository, with separate staging and production environments.
• Documentation and training so your team can maintain everything.

When is n8n the right tool, and when isn't it?
